Deepika Padukone On The Verge Of Signing Vijay's Film

Deepika Padukone seems to be ready to act in her second Tamil movie. The Bollywood diva, who is gearing up for her debut Kollywood film Kochadaiiyaan starring Rajinikanth, has been approached by Chimbu Devan for his next movie with Vijay. She is likely to give her nod for the upcoming flick. The buzz says that Deepika Padukone has shown interest towards the project. Despite being busy in Bollywood, the Bengaluru-based actress doesn't want to turn down the film. She is likely to sign the flick in coming days.

Sources say that Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone were in the race. But the former could not take up. Hence, the latter remained the prime choice. A formal announcement could be expected in the next few weeks. Deepika Padukone is currently busy with Hindi movies like Finding Fanny starring Arjun Kapoor and Shahrukh Khan's Happy New Year. Apart from these projects, she has not signed any flick. Meanwhile, Chimbudevan, whose Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaniyum is releasing today (April 4), will start working on Vijay's project soon. It will take off in August as the actor is busy with his next film Kaththi directed by AR Murugadoss.

Vijay to Sing in Murugadoss's 'Kaththi'

Actor Vijay is all set to render a song in his upcoming film "Kaththi," directed by AR Murugadoss.
It has become a trend of sorts for music composers of Vijay's films to make the actor sing at least one song in the projects. In the past, Vijay has crooned several songs in his films, most of which have turned out to be hits.
The actor had also rendered songs in his last two releases - "Vaanganna Vanakanganna" from "Thalaivaa" and "Kandangi Kandangi" from "Jilla".
Now, it is confirmed that Vijay will be singing a song in his upcoming film "Kaththi," according to Behindwoods. This news is sure to excite Vijay's fans worldwide.
Anirudh is working on the soundtracks of the film. There are five songs in the Vijay starrer and one theme track. Of the five songs, one has been shot in Chennai airport and the other one in Hyderabad. The intro song of the film has been crooned by Anirudh and Aadhi, the website reported.
"Kaththi" is one of the most-anticipated projects of 2014. The film reportedly has Vijay appearing in dual roles. Samantha Ruth Prabhu plays the female lead opposite Vijay in the film, while bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh will be making his debut in Tamil as a villain.
The Murugadoss directorial is touted to be an action entertainer with a racy screenplay. The film's cinematography is handled by George C Williams and editing is done by A Sreekar Prasad.
Ayngaran International and Lyca Productions are jointly producing the film, which is slated to hit the screens for Diwali (23 October 2014).
The first look of "Kaththi" is expected to be out on Tamil New Year's Day (14 April). However, an official confirmation regarding this is still awaited.

  • Reviews :

Jilla received mostly positive reviews from critics. Sify stated "Jilla is masala entertainment and a full course meal that leaves you with a smile on your face", calling it "a perfect outing with your family this festival season". The Times of India gave 3.5 stars out of 5 and stated "As far as commercial films are concerned, Jilla is definitely assured filmmaking", while adding, "the main issue with Jilla is that it is overlong. Neason, probably in an effort to make it a wholesome entertainer, keeps packing in scenes oblivious to the running time. So, we have an unwarranted sub-plot involving Sakthi's sister and forcefully fitted songs which only make the film lengthy".
Indiaglitz gave 3.25/5 and stated "Pure family entertainer and movie will not disappoint you". Behindwoods gave 2.75 out of 5 and stated, "The charismatic screen presence of Vijay and Mohanlal, few enjoyable musical tracks and comedy scenes and power packed action sequences mark Neason’s Jilla that travels on a standard template and satiates Vijay’s fans".Bangalore Mirror gave 3.5 out of 5 and called it "a perfect festival film that has all the trappings of a blockbuster". tikkview.com gave 3.5 out of 5 and they wrote that "Real mass entertainer. Go for MohanLal and Vijay".
